Deleting your Toke account
Public page copy · to be published at a stable URL and set as the User Privacy Choices URL in App Store Connect
How to delete your account
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. You don't need to contact us.
1. Open Account
2. Tap Settings
3. Tap Delete account
4. Confirm
We'll ask you to confirm before anything is deleted, because it can't be undone.
If you can't reach the app for any reason, email us at support@toke.ai from the address on your account and we'll help.
What happens when you delete
Your account closes immediately. You'll be signed out and won't be able to sign back in.
We then anonymise the data associated with your account. That means we permanently remove the information that identifies you — your name, email address, date of birth and username — and sever the link between your account and anything you contributed.
This is permanent. We can't restore an account or recover its data once this has run.
What's removed
- Your name, email address, date of birth and username
- Your profile photo
- Your saved items and friend connections
- The free text of any reviews you wrote
- Your support conversations, unless one relates to an unresolved complaint or dispute
What stays, and why
Your dispensary ratings, without your name attached. Star ratings and structured scores remain part of the aggregate figures shown on dispensary pages, with nothing connecting them to you. Removing them would distort the picture other users rely on.
Messages you sent to other people. If you've messaged another user, those messages stay in their conversation, shown as coming from a deleted user. We can't remove them, because they're also part of that person's record of a conversation they took part in — the same way an email you sent stays in someone's inbox.
Support conversations relating to a complaint or dispute. If you've raised a complaint we may need to keep that correspondence to deal with it properly, or to defend a claim. Everything else goes.
Records we're required by law to keep. Where a law requires us to retain something for a set period, we keep only that, and only for that period.
Email you've sent us
If you've emailed our support team, that correspondence is held separately from your account and isn't removed automatically when you delete.
We keep support emails for 3 years from your last message, or 6 years where the email relates to a complaint or a dispute. After that we delete them.
If you'd like your email correspondence deleted sooner, email [support@toke.ai](mailto:support@toke.ai) and ask. We'll deal with it within a month.
How long it takes
Your account closes straight away.
Anonymisation completes within 30 days. This includes our backups, which are overwritten on a rolling basis.
If you've stopped using Toke
If you don't sign in for 36 months, we'll email you to check whether you'd like to keep your account. If we don't hear from you within 30 days of that email, we'll close and anonymise it in the same way.
We do this because we shouldn't hold your information indefinitely if you're no longer using the service.
Deleting the app isn't the same thing
Removing the app from your device doesn't delete your account. Your account stays open until you delete it using the steps above.
Questions
If you'd like to know what we hold about you before deciding, you can request a copy of your data — email support@toke.ai.
For anything else about your data, contact Tristan Mallinson at dpo@toke.ai.
Drafting notes — internal, delete before publication
Why this page exists. Apple sets it as the optional User Privacy Choices URL in App Store Connect, which App Review treats favourably. Google's data safety form links to a deletion route. It also satisfies the transparency expectation that users understand the consequences of deletion before they act.
Must be reachable without an account, and from the app itself.
Placeholders to complete
- Exact in-app navigation path, once the flow is built
- Confirm the 30-day anonymisation window matches what the deletion function actually does
Add for Submission 2, when subscriptions ship. A section stating plainly that deleting the Toke account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, with links to https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions and the Play equivalent. Apple reviews deletion flows for this specifically. The Toke Plus Lifetime entitlement will need its own paragraph, since deletion extinguishes something the user paid for permanently.
Keep accurate to the build. If DEV-01 concludes that anonymisation behaves differently from what's described here, this page must change in the same release. A deletion page that overstates what is removed is worse than one that is candid about what remains.
On tone. Written plainly and without hedging. The sections on what stays are deliberately direct — a user who discovers after deleting that their messages remained would reasonably feel misled, and the transparency is worth more than the discomfort of saying it.
